Job Description: Federal Air Marshal (Criminal Justice)
Position Overview:
The Federal Air Marshal is responsible for protecting the safety and security of passengers, crew members, and aircraft on both domestic and international flights. This role requires a highly skilled individual with a strong background in law enforcement, criminal justice, and aviation security. The Federal Air Marshal plays a critical role in preventing and responding to potential threats in the aviation sector.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conducts covert surveillance and law enforcement duties to identify and neutralize potential threats to aviation security.
2. Maintains a vigilant presence onboard aircraft, ensuring the safety and security of passengers, crew members, and aircraft systems.
3. Implements proactive strategies to prevent hijackings, sabotage, and other criminal activities during flights.
4. Collaborates with other law enforcement agencies and aviation security personnel to gather intelligence and respond to potential threats.
5. Evaluates potential risks and implements appropriate security measures to deter and mitigate threats.
6. Demonstrates exceptional marksmanship and proficiency in the use of firearms to respond effectively to critical situations.
7. Conducts thorough security assessments of airports, aircraft, and related facilities to identify vulnerabilities and recommend security enhancements.
8. Provides expert guidance and advice to flight crews and cabin personnel on emergency response procedures and self-defense techniques.
9. Maintains accurate and detailed reports regarding surveillance activities, incidents, and investigations.
10. Stays updated on the latest trends, techniques, and technologies related to aviation security and law enforcement.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
2. Minimum of five years of experience in federal, state, or local law enforcement, with a focus on aviation security and criminal investigations.
3. Must possess a valid and active law enforcement certification and meet all applicable fitness requirements.
4. Extensive knowledge of federal laws, regulations, and policies related to aviation security and criminal justice.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick and informed decisions in high-pressure situations.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with diverse individuals and agencies.
7. Exceptional physical fitness and stamina to manage the demands of the role, including long flights and potential physical altercations.
